The Challenge

Water utilities across Bangladesh faced enormous losses due to undetected leaks, inaccurate manual meter readings, and delayed billing. Traditional meters required physical inspection teams visiting thousands of properties monthly, with readings often estimated rather than measured. The lack of real-time data made proactive leak detection impossible. The client needed a scalable IoT infrastructure that could cover a large geographic area with minimal power consumption—requirements that made LoRa technology the ideal protocol choice, but required building the entire software stack from scratch as no suitable platform existed in the Bangladesh market.

The Solution

We designed and built the complete software platform powering Bangladesh's first LoRaWAN-based smart water metering deployment. The cloud architecture on AWS IoT Core handles real-time telemetry from thousands of meters simultaneously, storing time-series data in TimescaleDB for efficient historical analysis. The Laravel backend processes incoming sensor data, triggers automated alerts for leak detection and anomalies, and integrates directly with the billing system to generate accurate consumption-based invoices. The Vue.js operations dashboard gives utility managers real-time visibility across the entire distribution network.
